After back from Kusatsu Onsen, we toured around Matsumoto City.
First time see a map just painted on unpainted wood planks |
Below was a photo of the inner city loop bus. One can buy a one day pass for 500 yen.

We went to a school (旧開智学校) which was Japan's oldest western school building. Education informations from Meiji to Showa era were being displayed. Nearby was the new school. Both old and new buildings were kind of special.

新開智学校 (new) |
Next the school was an old western building (oldest in the prefecture) built by a France missionary on Meiji 22 years. This made me think of the western buildings in Nagasaki.
松本市旧司祭館 |
The manhole cover in the area was kind of colourful. One was 2 kids having fun. Another was flowers. We saw a special shaped tree too! One kindergarten planted tulips around the area, it was so beautiful! Some kids were playing around there, so when we took photos near the kindergarten, the teacher actually came out to check on us, worried about the children.

After that, the main attraction of Matsumoto City, the Matsumoto Castle 松本城. Since the time was getting late, we just walked around the castle. The castle was not as big as Kumamoto Castle, but it was one of the oldest and most traditional castle. It was grand. Besides the castle, reconstruction on part of the castle was being done.
