Golden week holiday in Fukuoka 福岡 2011 Part 3

A stall in Yatai
shaking hand with BON JOVI
Yahoo Dome
29th April 2011. After a colourful visit to the marine world, we went to the Yahoo Dome in Fukuoka city. It is a baseball stadium. There was no game on that day. So, it was kind of quite. The view was OK. But, hey I shake hand with  'Bon Jovi'. It was something like 'walk of fame'.

Near the stadium, there's a beach and a statue. The beach was beautiful , but not the statue, it looked weird. After that, dinner time. We looked all over for the 'Yatai', a kind of night market, where there are supposed to have a lot of stalls selling everything under the sun. However, it was a disappointment, any 'Pasar Malam' in Malaysia can beat it, there're only a few stalls, as opposed to the amount advertised in the travel brochure. Well, maybe it scattered around the whole Fukuoka City,  not concentrated in one place. Still, a big shock. I expect something like night market in Taman Connaught, instead, mmm.....

After dinner, we started the journey to Nagasaki. And we checked using the GPS, there were many routes. To save on highway toll, we decided to follow a longer track. It was a horrifying journey, there was a route where we have to pass a very narrow mountainous road in the dark, our car is the only thing in sight! And there was no lamp post. Luckily I was not the driver, I would have a hard time driving on the road like that. After passing the mountainous road, the hostel manager called us, he was wondering why we weren't there yet and he sounds angry. Then, only my friend Jack realise that there is a late check in time, and it is 10.30pm. While we were still 1 hour away from that hostel. After some haggling, the PIC agreed to wait until 11pm for us. After that, he wouldn't entertain us.

From the GPS calculations, we would reach after 11pm, so Tee was driving so fast, more than 120km/h. It was quite funny and exciting. Finally, we managed to reach that hostel right before 11pm and check in after the PIC gave us a lecture. Well, that was not a hotel, but a Catholic style hostel and they have curfew. So, keeping track of time is important, especially, for the hostel style accommodation. It is not a hotel! The charge was 2000 yen per night, with a bunk bed and towels. Although that time was golden week, in the room I was in, only has 2 occupants, me and another gal although there are 16 beds inside. So, still ok, not so many  people. And I have a good sleep after a long day!
