This book is quite engaging, I finished it in three days.

the synopsis

It talks about Emma, a daughter of a very famous rock star, Brian. She was born out of wedlock and when her own biological mother threaten to kill her, her father brought her back and stayed with her father's new bride. Then, her stepmother, Bev gave birth to a son, Darren. The family had a really good time, Bev treated her like her own child and everybody adored Darren. Her father's career was soaring high when baby Darren was killed. Although Emma saw the killers, she was too traumatized and forgot about it. After that, Bev couldn't take it and separated with Brian.

So, Emma grew up in a boarding school, missing her family and she thought that people blamed her for Darren's death. Then, after she reached 18 years old, she defied her father and went to New York to study. Then, she fall for a singer and married him. However, her husband was abusive. Finally, she killed her husband when he beat her so hard that it almost kill her . Around that time, she met her childhood friend, Michael (well, not really childhood friend though, he was the son of the police officer who investigated her brother's death.) who always love her. Emma reconciled with her family and found love again in Michael. 

Then, her biological mother died of drug usage. Before she died, she sent a letter to the police regarding the death of Darren. So, after much research, Michael found out who's the culprit for Darren's murder. Well, the two murderers got themselves killed by Emma and Michael. Then, everyone live happily ever after.

* This book is quite good, it touches on domestic abuse and drug abuse, real issues in real world. At least it’s not all prim and proper with loving husband, happy family, etc. Some romance novels are just too fake!
