Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts

Read another romance novel. To me, ending is very important, sometimes I would read the last chapter first before I proceeded to read the earlier parts. Hahaha! I did that even for movies and dramas, I would read the synopsis online first, if it's a sad story, I would normally skip it, if the story was really good, then I would first prepare a box of tissues. So, romance genre is a safe bet, normally the ending will be satisfying and happy. However, for this book, I read the last chapter first, just didn't have the patience to read from the first till last page!
Hidden Riches by Nora Roberts
From this book, I learnt a few trips on how people smuggled stolen art works. Not sure it's true or not though! To smuggled a stolen famous painting, the villain in this novel had another painting painted on top of the original painting. Mmmmm, wouldn't this destroy the original painting?

Anyway, in this story, the heroine, Dora was a owner of an antique shop, she lived above the shop and she had a very 'rich', former policeman tenant named Jed. I specified 'rich' because the whole book keep mentioning how loaded he was. Well, Dora accidentally, unknowingly bid for a abstract painting (which was actually a cover for a stolen famous painting) and other stuffs from an auction due to some mix up at the forwarding company. Since the bad guy number 1 didn't get what his stuffs, he directed his man, bad guy number 2 to get back the items. So, the bad guy number 2 lied, killed, stole to get back the items. However, for the final piece of work (the painting), the bad guy number 2 failed at the hands of Dora and Jed. Bad guy number 1 was so angry with number 2 and killed him. While at the same time, Dora and Jed found out that the abstract painting was actually a cover for a Monet. So, the painting was moved to a safe place for restoration, while the hero and heroine tried to catch the bad guy. Along the way, Dora and Jed argued (about Jed got back to police work and didn't tell Dora) and Dora asked Jed to move out.

Next, the bad guy number 1 sent bad guy number 3 to make contact with Dora to buy back the 'abstract painting'. So, they played along and managed to catch bad guy number 3. However, bad guy number 1 managed to track down Dora at her home and almost bled to death. Well, this is a romance novel. Jed showed up at the eleventh hour, saved Dora and killed the bad guy number 1. Of course, Dora escaped death and recovered. Then, Jed put aside his tormented childhood memory and proposed to Dora in his family home. Happy ending!
