Okinawa 4 Days Trip - Day 4 (Tug of War 那覇大綱挽)

7th October 2012

This is the collection of photos about 'Naha Tug of War 2012'. So interesting!

First part is the parade before tug of war.

Second part is the 'tug of war'. However, we were a little bit late, people were swarming the route 58, with my height, I barely could see anything. However, I managed to squeeze in near the rope and pull for few seconds. There were too many people and I gave up soon after. One reminder though, don't wear sandals or slippers, with all the people, it will be very easy to come off. After the event, slippers were found scattering around on the road.

after the tug of war, finally got the chance to be near the rope

After the 'tug of war', we stayed to see how the organizer kept the rope back. It was a huge logistic problem, however with precise coordination, it was done in around an hour, it was amazing!
cranes used to lift the rope into the lorry, very precise coordination needed
after the rope was transported into the lorry, clean up was done and route 58 reopened
