Golden Week 2012 - Ojima, Tojinbo & Eiheiji (雄島、東尋坊、永平寺)

28th & 29th April 2012

After Dinosaur Museum, we went to Eiheiji 永平寺, a famous temple in Fukui. What I liked the most was the ceiling of a room with a lot of paintings of flowers, none of it repeated. It were drawn by many artists for the temple. Other than that, most are almost the same with other temples. The temple also offer temple stay for people who are interested.

Word of Wisdom from a monk, it was great, too bad the English translation not so good!
① the first time is about ageing gracefully and facing death with an open mind
② the 2nd one is not taking one's own religion too seriously until hating other religions, it  is a stupid thing to do. A    righteous religion will lead to a greater path and peaceful life, not otherwise. I like this, so inspiring!
We finished toured Eiheiji just before 5:30 pm. After that, we decided to go to Ojima 雄島 to see the red bridge. Ojima was almost like Aojima 青島 in Miyazaki. It was a small island connected to the main land by a bridge, and both have shrines 神社. From Ojima, Tojinbo can be seen. In Ojima, apart from the shrine, there is a small light house. We managed to take the sunset photos too!

After Ojima, we left for Fukui. On our way, we saw a kaiten sushi 回転寿司 shop with a big signboard. Since Fukui is famous with seafood, we decided to have our dinner there. However, the shop was quite expensive. So, we took the plates with cautious so that we don't end up with a huge bills. Frankly, it is more satisfying to eat sushi in the 105 yen kaiten sushi shop where we can eat until we are full without worrying about the bill. After dinner, we checked into our hotel, Fukui Palace Inn 福井パレスイン, the rate was quite cheap, 3000 yen per night for a single room. Well, the hotel was quite old, but the environment was kept well and clean. Plus, they offer free WiFi service.
From my room, can see the tram's rail, the picture shows a moving tram.
The next morning, we picked another friend, cissy from the Fukui Station and went to Tojinbo 東尋坊, the famous suicide spot in Japan. According to the Japan Tourism website, the Tojinbo was formed by the erosion of the raging waves. We walked around the rocks, in my opinion, this place was dangerous with all the uneven rocks. Maybe some were not really want to die, but accidentally dropped to the sea.

There are boat services for visitors to see the rocks from the sea

④ from a narrow gap between 2 rocks, found out that some pinkish stuff was flowing along with the sea water, I  am thinking that this was effluent.

since this was a suicide spot, posters and paper clips were displayed asking people to get help and think before doing anything.
soft cream
From the parking lot to the rocks area, there was a long street of souvenior shop, I bought soft cream. I was so clumsy that the cream was left on my new camera, and I did not notice until the cream was hardened already! Not only that, I bought barbecued squid, maybe it was too big and not properly cooked, I almost vomit it out! (-_-)!!

After that, we left Tojinbo and went to Komatsu Airport to return the rental car. Then, we took bus to Komatsu Station. Then, I took train to Kanazawa, while Tee and Cissy went to Toyama.
