Okinawa 4 Days Trip - Day 2 (Part 2)

5th October 2012

After all the walking around the aquarium, we were hungry. So, we decided to go to Fruits Land to eat the fruits boat that looked so delicious from the Fruits Land brochure. It was just next to the Okinawa Pineapple Park. Due to time constraints, we just went to Fruits Land.
Okinawa Fruits Land 沖縄フルーツランド
Fruits Land has a small butterfly park, a bird park, tropical fruit park, cafe and so on. Well, although the parks were nothing to shout about, it was good enough for those who haven't seen all those tropical wonders. I am used to all those butterflies and fruit trees. So, no surprise there.

The cafe was at the end of the Fruits Land. The fruits boat that we intended to have was not as tempting as the photo, so we ended up eating the ice cream. I had papaya flavour and my friend had sweet potato flavour. Sweet potato 紅芋 is very famous in Okinawa, one can see many food stuffs made from sweet potato, especially the omiyage お土産.

Next, we went to Kouri Bridge 古宇利大橋. It was recommended in many travel blogs for the view. It was so beautiful when the car move towards the bridge. Ahhhh, I did not know how to describe it my feeling. At first, my friend (driver) wanted to take the photo of the bridge too, so our initial plan was he would drive to the Kouri Island, while I would drive out of the island, so that both of us would have the chance to take the photos of the bridge. However, later we found out that there are parking lots at the front and end of the bridge. So, we parked the car and walked across the bridge. The view on both sides of the bridge was very nice. ♥!

Then, it was around 3pm already. We quickly left for Daisekirinzan 大石林山. Luckily, we reached on 4 pm, just right on time. After 4 pm, they wouldn't allow anyone to enter anymore. Since it was already October, the park will close on 5.30 pm. So, we had to move fast. From the gate, bus service was provided to the rest house (also the starting point of the route).

Daisekirinzan 大石林山
There are four routes provided,
  1. Churaumi Observatory Course 美ら海展望台コース
  2. Tropical Natural Forest Course 亜熱帯自然林コース
  3. Strange and Big Rock Course 巨岩・石林感動コース
  4. Barrier Free Course バリアフリーコース
Since the most famous thing of Daisekirin is the limestone, so we decided to go for the "strange and big rock course". That rocks were actually corroded limestones and the shapes were special and unique. After a visit to this place, I planned to go to Akiyoshidai in Yamaguchi. It was amazing to see this nature wonder.

After that course, there were still time left before the park close, so we decided to go for the "tropical natural forest course" too. It was different kind of beauty. There were Japanese sago palm and banyan trees. The combination of sago palm and the limestone is actually very pleasing to the eyes.

The natural forest course led to the gate. So, we went to Cape Hedo 辺戸岬 next, Okinawa Island northernmost tip. Too bad it was quite cloudy, so we couldn't see Kagoshima from here. If the weather was nice, we would be able to see Kagoshima. Well, anyway, it was still lovely.

this was taken from Daisekirin, not sure this is Cape Hedo or not?
Well, the main reason we went to Cape Hedo was to take the photo of the sign that read "沖縄島最北端の地 - the northernmost tip of Okinawa". Hahahaha!

Well, it was nearly 6 pm, so we decided to go back to Naha City 那覇市, it was a three hours drive back. When we were going back, we found a brochure for a restaurant (it was in the rental car file), the food seemed very delicious! So, we decided to go there for dinner. Luckily, it was not far from where we were, only around 20 minutes drive, if we were a little late in finding that brochure, then we had to kiss the restaurant good bye because it would be a waste of time to drive there.
Ufuya 大家
The restaurant name is Ufuya うふやー, and they specialised in Agu pork アグー豚 (Okinawa local pig).  The environment was very nice too! The pork has huge portion of fat. I ordered a set of shabu shabu with a plate of Agu pork. It was so delicious. Well, my female colleagues love pork like Agu pork, they said that it was full of collagen, however, my male colleagues think that it was too high in cholesterol! I had a very full and fulfilling dinner.

*Ufuya assigned a chinese speaking staff to serve us, well, it was funny because we spoke english at first, and his english was not that good, so he asked whether we came from Hong Kong or China or Taiwan, we said "no, no, no!" Then, he finally asked can we understand chinese, and we said "yes!" He seemed relieve. Well, I don't remember his looks, but his voice was really nice, so warm. Hahahah!

Then, we proceeded to go back to Naha City, a wonderful day!!
